Organic grains!
Organic goodness!

At Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company we celebrate bread. The ancient history of bread making resonates in every loaf we pull out of our ovens. Have you tried our famous whole wheat cinnamon buns? Our sweet treats are also part of a long tradition of from scratch baking. Jams and jellies preserve the time-honoured tradition of "summer in a jar".

We know the farmers who grow organic Manitoba grains for use at Tall Grass. We mill our whole grain flour daily on our premises in our stone mills. Our bakers are passionate about the art and craft of baking.

We believe in the goodness inherent in every loaf. Bread sustains life, bread tastes great, bread looks beautiful, bread has spiritual significance, bread is food for body and soul.

Come and celebrate bread with us at Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company.

Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company in Wolseley

Tall Grass in the Winnipeg community of Wolseley. In 1990, Wolseley neighbours opened their arms to Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company and came in droves to buy bread and cinnamon buns. Within months of opening, the staff had tripled and so had the production of bread. Tall Grass is grateful for the love and faithfulness that the Wolseley and Winnipeg customers continue to pour into our small bakery.

Small goes outdoors during the summer, when customers have the opportunity to enjoy our baking at our little sidewalk cafe. Our tables and chairs overlook our tenderly cared for Tall Grass Prairie garden.

Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company at The Forks

Tall Grass Prairie Bread Company at The Forks, where the Red and Assiniboine Rivers have met for centuries. In 2002, Tall Grass was invited to open a second location at The Forks. It seemed to us that the earthy philosophy of Tall Grass would meld well with the natural beauty and the long-standing trading history of The Forks. Bringing the time-honoured traditions of milling fresh organic flour and baking from scratch to greater Winnipeg is our privilege.

Customers may come and enjoy our vast array of baked goods or stop by and delight in soup, a sandwich, salad, or sweet treat in one of the cozy nooks in or near our bakery. Enjoy a cup of our organic coffee, read our complimentary newspaper, or meet a new or old friend at our round oak table. And remember the folks at home with bread and sweets.

Access to the bakery is from inside the historic Forks Market, a converted brick railway building from the turn of the 20th century.
